Free legal aid is legal aid that is guaranteed by the government and is being provided, in full or in part, through the State Budget funds, local budgets, and other sources, according to the Law on Free Legal Aid. It is provided in the Free Legal Aid Centers.

How can the institution help you?

The Centers deliver Free Secondary Legal Aid (FSLA) services. This aid includes the following legal services:

  • Legal advice
  • Legal protection of individuals in criminal proceedings and in certain cases related to administrative offenses
  • Defense of individual’s interests before courts, other authorities, local governments and other individuals
  • Drafting procedural legal documents

This aid is not available to everyone but only to the categories of people identified in the Law of Ukraine on Free Legal Aid and other Ukrainian laws.

Activities

  • Legal advice online and offline, help draft legal documents
  • Whenever an individual cannot hire a defense counsel, they assign such counsel free of charge to be engaged in criminal proceedings and under other circumstances defined by law
